We have Marvel’s First Family in the MCU, guys!
On Valentine’s Day, Marvel officially revealed the cast of the new Fantastic Four movie and it’s a stellar cast with Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards aka Mr Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm aka the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm aka the Thing. It’ll be directed by WandaVision’s Matt Shakman.
It’s a dream cast with Pascal as the head of the family but we here at FTN are massive fans of Hobbs and Shaw and Mission: Impossible star Kirby and Moss-Bachrach has found his way into our hearts big time after, among others, Andor and The Bear and, of course, everyone fell in love with Quinn after he stole the last season of Stranger Things as Eddie.
She-Hulk series gives nods to X-Men, Deadpool, Miles Morales, Fantastic Four and more…
I have to say, I am surprised that The Office’s John Krasinski isn’t back as Richards after playing him in the Doctor Strange sequel but it shows that Kevin Feige and Marvel aren’t afraid to have fun, giving the fans their fan cast choices… even if it’s just in one movie :).
Based on the poster art above, it’s likely that rumours from a few years back that the movie would see the characters playing astronauts who were lost (in the Quantum Zone, perhaps?) in the 1960s, meaning the characters will find themselves back in the modern MCU as fishes out of water. It could certainly be a fun way to approach this story and, with the X-Men looking like they’re set to crash into the MCU big time after Deadpool & Wolverine, the MCU is heading into a classic Marvel phase and we’re here for it all.
Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Bluesky,
Truth, Tumblr, Threads & Mastodon!
The Fantastic Four is set for July 25th, 2025 and it will follow Thunderbolts on May 2nd, 2025 as of now, Captain America: Brave New World is set for February and Blade is set for November – with only one MCU movie this year in the form of Deadpool & Wolverine, it looks like Marvel are coming back strong in 2025.
I’ve been looking forward to seeing the Fantastic Four joining the MCU for a long time (and yes, I’m a fan of the Tim Story movies in the early 2000s), so I’m excited for this.
Also, if you’re wondering who the villain will be, I’m hearing that Galactus is set for the MCU with Disney/Marvel looking for Javier Bardem to play him and we might see Doctor Doom but, if we do, it’ll likely be a credit scene. No word of Silver Surfer at this stage.
