First details on The Mitchells Vs The Machines sequel

While there were many highs and lows during the crazy covid days, one of the absolute highs was the release of The Mitchells vs the Machines on Netflix in 2021.

From Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the movie was set for the big screen originally, but because it seemed the sky was falling, it found its way onto the small screen and gave my, and many other, families a fun couple of hours where we discovered a movie that was genuinely superb and were able to forget the doom and gloom going on outide the walls of our house.

And I will always be thankful for that.

Spaceballs: The New One gets a new poster and synopsis

But now, I am delighted to report that a sequel is coming called… The Mitchells vs the Mitchells!

The new movie’s official, but non-plot-revealing, synopsis reads:

While the first film saw the Mitchells, a fairly mild-mannered American family, take on the robot apocalypse, the sequel sees them encounter something even stranger and more dangerous … themselves.

Michael Rianda, who co-wrote and directed the first movie, is returning to produce, with Guillermo Martinez (Kubo and the Two Strings and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) and JP Sans (The Bad Guys 2) in the directing chairs.

Hulu’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is officially dead in the water

Lord and Miller are also producing again under their Lord Miller banner.

As soon as there is more to report, I will send it to you guys, but in the meantime, it’s nice to know that in the (hopefully) not-too-distant future, there’s a new Mitchells movie coming.

Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all.

Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
