Michael Fassbender in Assassin’s Creed has a really bright future. That’s judging from the reports emerging from CinemaCon in Las Vegas where the actor revealed first-look footage from his highly-anticipated video game adaptation.
The star couldn’t attend the event but sent a video message attached to a trailer which was shown to the lucky audience. Fassbender, who plays Callum Lynch, promised a “compelling story, rich characters and breathtaking action sequences.”
The film is still-unfinished but the reaction to the footage was extremely positive, with many critics taking to Twitter to praise the action and Fassbender himself.
The footage reportedly with Fassbender as Lynch in a padded hospital room where Marion Cotillard tells him ominously: “executed and presumed dead. You no longer exist.”
Cotillard’s character then says Lynch has been “implanted with the memories of someone who has been dead for 500 years.” Wow. The rest of the footage was really impressive ninja skills from Fassbender, living up to those vows of ‘breathtaking action sequences.’
The trailer is expected to be officially released next month. According to The Wrap, the footage also featured “I Am A God” by Kanye West. That’ll be interesting because we don’t usually associate the rapper with action-adventure video game adaptations.
