With Captain America: Winter Soldier filming we’re guessing there’s going to be leaks and news and rumours coming flat-out over the next while… and here’s the first big one.

Someone dies. And there’s a funeral. Probably.

Heroic Headlines are reporting: “On Tuesday, May 12th, Captain America: Civil War will be filming what is simply being referred to as “a funeral scene” in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The production is currently operating under the working title of Sputnik, and extras are being asked to wear formal, solid black attire for the event. The weather forecast for Tuesday is a cloudy day, with thunderstorms throughout the afternoon, making for a sullen, grim funeral.”

So this is interesting, right?

Cue speculation!

Now, anyone who knows the comics will know that Captain America dies in the Civil War event in that continuity and Bucky, AKA The Winter Soldier, picks up the red, white and blue shield and helmet to become the new Cap. And we all know this has been rumored for a long time, especially given that actor Sebastian Stan has a nine movie deal with Marvel/Disney while Chris Evans – Captain America currently – only has six.

Plus Evans has acknowledged that it may well be on the cards in the movies: “I’m sure it’ll happen at some point, all good things have to come to an end. But I’m really happy playing the character.”

What do you all think? Will the current Cap die? If so, will Bucky take over as he does in the comics? If so, will Evans return at some point or is the first step in the MCU moving on? Or is Marvel leading us down a path of misinformation? Or does someone else die? Perhaps someone who died in Avengers: Age of Ultron – ahem? Questions, questions, questions…

UPDATE:

Sebastian Stan has just shared the first image of him on set… wearing the coat and hat from the closing of The Winter Soldier. It’s all connected, right?

Having A weekend!
