GI Joe movies move forward as Paramount want Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson back and to give Snake Eyes his own movie

We can only presume this is part of the soft reboot that the GI Joe movies are going through as Hasbro move forward with a new shared cinematic universe, but Snake Eyes, the coolest of all the Joes, is getting his own movie.

While we recently found out that Paramount want Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson back for a new GI Joe movies with That Hashtag Show reporting: “the film is set to see Johnson’s Roadblock, who first appeared in 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation, assemble a new team of Joes to stop terrorists from launching a dark matter WMD that will turn their targets to dust! A third G.I. Joe film has been in development for years and many versions of it have come and gone; this, most recent, iteration is expected to join the previously announced Micronauts film and a Rom film, currently being developed by Zak Penn, in a shared cinematic universe.”

In addition to that, it’s still apparently the plan that the new Transformers (after Bumblebee) will be part of this world along with the recently announced MASK movie too.

However, outside of the core GI Joe movie, it seems that Beauty and the Beast and The Huntsman: Winter’s War writer Evan Spiliotopoulos is in talks to write the movie which will explore who Snake Eyes is as not much is known about his except he dresses all in black, doesn’t speak, has a wolf called Timber, a mortal enemy called Storm Shadow and is a total badass.

It’s weird getting old… you start hearing about projects like this (and Solo and The Dark Tower and Transformers) and realise that they’ll never bring you the magic you experienced as a child again. But you always live in hope.

More details on the GI Joe movies as and when we hear it…
