It looks like Marvel are setting up a really dark chapter with the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok and may be introducing a big female character ingot he MCU…

Well, the word on the street is that Marvel hired Flight of the Conchords and What We Do In The Dark director Taika Waititi (we reported on his being in charge hear) to try to keep the darkness at bay.

The guys at Birth, Movies, Death are reporting that a source close to the movie WILL have Hulk and Thor together as we reported earlier this week and the humour between the two will be one way to alleviate the dark tone: “Along the way they’re going to meet Valkyries, as you might expect from a story about the Norse end of the world, but my source tells me that besides the Valkyries (generic) the film might launch Marvel superheroine Valkyrie into the Cinematic Universe.

“Valkryie, aka Brunnhilde, was a longtime member of The Defenders, hung out with Doctor Strange and had Norse goddess The Enchantress as her enemy. In fact it was an Enchantress story that introduced Valkyrie in the comics – could this mean we’ll see The Enchantress finally make it to the screen? I’m not entirely clear on how Valkyrie is being used – it could be in the group of Norse mythological beings who bring the gods to Valhalla after they die or it could be as the standalone superheroine. “

So basically this is Thor: Apocalypse and seems like Thor will finally have a story that really ties into the Marvel story on film. That’s not to say we haven’t like the other two movies; we have but they have been side stories.

What can we expect? Well, we guess the reveal of Loki on the throne will be addressed and it will also certainly set up some big events leading into Infinity War.

Just how dark will Marvel go? We’ll just have to wait until November 3rd 2017 to find out.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
