Back in February (which seems like a million years ago now, doesn’t it?), we reported that a Hellraiser movie reboot may be on the table (here).
However, it seems that Pinhead and his delightful Cenobites may not be just headed to the big screen as it seems now that HBO are looking into playing with the Puzzlebox to release the demonic bunch into our living rooms in a weekly fashion.
Yes, a Hellraiser TV series is in development.
According to the new rumours, the series will not be a reboot (although the movie likely will be) but will rather continue on the story already set out in the movies… although, to be fair, this is already a long and spindly affair.
Halloween (2018) director David Gordon Green is attached to helm the series which will be penned by Mark Verheiden (Daredevil) and Michael Dougherty (Trick r’ Treat). Danny McBride will also be on the writing team.
A few years ago I would have said a Hellraiser series would never do the movies justice but, given house hardcore TV is now, I’d say nothing is out of the question.
