Here we go again? Paramount pushes Clifford movie back due to that damned virus

July 31st, 2021 by Marc Comments

Oh man, I do not like the sound of this…

As you will all know, we’re just starting to get our lives back as the world starts to try to live with COVID-19 and one of the biggest parts of that is finally getting our movies back.

With Black Widow just recently hitting and movies such as Ghostbusters: Afterlife and James Bond: No Time To Die on our unmissable list for the coming months, it looks like the big studios may be getting cold feet about releasing everything.

Paramount Pictures has pulled back the release of their Cliffird The Big Red Dog movie, due to arrive on September 17th, for an indefinite period of time over ‘concerns over the still spreading delta variant of COVID-19’.

Now, while there is no evidence (so far) that other studios will follow suit, panicking about that damned virus but, it just became a bit more of a realistic prospect than it was just yesterday.

Honestly, if I don’t see Ghostbusters: Afterlife this winter, I may crack and could this be why we still haven’t see a trailer for Spider-man: No Way Home? I hope not…

What say you all?

In Clifford The Big Red Dog, When middle-schooler Emily Elizabeth meets a magical animal rescuer who gifts her a little, red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant ten-foot hound in her small New York City apartment. While her single mom is away for business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle Casey set out on an adventure that will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat as our heroes take a bite out of the Big Apple. Based on the beloved Scholastic book character, Clifford will teach the world how to love big!

The film will be led by Darby Camp (Big Little Lies) as Emily, Jack Whitehall (Jungle Cruise) as Uncle Casey, John Cleese (Monty Python) as Mr. Bridwell, Sienna Guillory (Resident Evil) as Maggie, and Tony Hale (Veep) as Peter. It will also feature Izaac Wang, Rosie Pere, Kenan Thompson, Paul Rodriguez and Jessica Keenan Wyn.

Based on the children’s book series by Norman Bridwell, the film is directed by Walt Becker from screenplay written by Jay Scherick, David Ronn, Annie Mumolo, and Stan Chervin. Jordan Kerner and Scholastic Entertainment’s Deborah Forte are also producing.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
