Images reveal Batgirl’s final suit and Firefly’s full suit from cancelled Batgirl movie

January 8th, 2023 by Marc Comments

We all know the Leslie Grace-starring Batgirl movie has been canceled and we’re now getting a lot of behind-the-scenes images and videos that give us an idea of the style and tone of the movie and it does seem to be a mixed bag, sadly.

When Grace revealed the Batgirl suit (above) in January last year, we loved it as it was comic accurate and fun and looked like Barbara Gordon had put it together herself which was the premise of the movie which would see JK Simmons’ Commissioner Gordon’s daughter decide she needed to step up to help Batman fight crime in Gotham.

However, we now have a look at a new suit shared by Grace and it seems she was to get an upgraded suit at the end of the movie:

To us, it seems that this suit is likely one made for her by Batman in the movie – we know that Batman in this movie was set to be played by Michael Keaton’s version, returning from Tim Burton’s movies thanks to events in The Flash movie which was set to be released before Batgirl. That has all gone a bit weird now and we’re still waiting for The Flash (this June) but we know that Keaton’s Batman will be returning, so there’s that.

Another image, shared by the Batgirl Film News account has us a little baffled though as, to us, it seems she’s wearing a third cowl in the movie, this one resembling Keaton’s cowl more than either of the ones we’ve seen so far:

Robin exists in the Batgirl movie… could he have been set to appear too?

We also have our best look at Brendan Fraser’s Garfield Lynn AKA Firefly, the villain of the movie:

I’m not going to lie, I love all this stuff.

I loved the first suit and I like the second suit; I think Firefly looks great too and feel that all the hate online seems very unfair and isn’t allowing for how these suits always look better onscreen.

Batgirl and Supergirl movie had been planned?

However, I cannot be completely positive about the movie as a leaked bit of footage, below, has Grace running in costume and, while we will never know the context on screen, this is a very awkward looking run that I’d have expected to see in the 1960s Batman series more than in a modern movie:

But, look, I still would rather have seen the movie released – for the most part I like how Grace looks in the suits, I would love to have seen JK Simmons’ Gordon return and I was very excited to see Keaton’s Batman again.

However, it’s not to be but i fully expect to see more footage and images from the canceled movie leak over the coming weeks and months.

Would you have liked to see Batgirl released or are you glad it was binned? Let me know your thoughts, folks…
