Is Alan Cumming BAMFing his way into X-Men: Days Of Future Past?

March 13th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Last we heard director Bryan Singer wasn’t sure if he would bring Nightcrawler back for X-Men: Days of Future Past. In a previous interview he said:

“I don’t know. We’ll see. You know … we’ll see. I don’t want to … sometimes you don’t want to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to something that may not be a ‘yes’ or a ‘no,’ or anything. I haven’t decided yet, a few things.”

You’ll remember he also said the same thing about Halle Berry’s Storm, and we told you how that turned out, Berry is back as Storm. Now the latest is that Alan Cumming is going to be back to reprise his role as the demonic looking but deeply religious, Nightcrawler. As far as I’m concerned this is great, I was really hoping that he’d come back. Who can forget that awesome Nightcrawler scene to open up X2?

James McAvoy let the news slip in a recent interview with Heat Radio. This is what he said:

“It’s huge, the cast is huge. You got me, [Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender,] Nicholas Hoult will be back and he’s just blossoming massively over [in america]. Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellen, Halle Berry, Alan Cumming, Peter Dinklage I hear mentioned – I don’t know if that’s happening – “Huge” Jackman is coming by. He’s massive, 7’5″ and muscle-ly.”

Now here’s where things get interesting. Website Coming Soon are saying that they have confirmation that Alan Cumming won’t be in the film. But they don’t have a quote and don’t provide a source. They don’t say anything about Nightcrawler though. It’s possible McAvoy read or heard about Nightcrawler and assumed it was Alan Cummings in the role again. I guess we’ll keep an eye on Bryan Singer’s Twitter feed.

So will it be Alan Cumming coming back in the blue furry suit, another actor, or will it be no Nightcrawler at all?
