The full trailer is here for Mike Flanagan’s highly anticipated adaptation of Stephen King’s iconic first novel, Carrie.
First published in 1974, King’s novel tells the story of Carrie White, a young girl who is developing as a teen but also developing powers of telekinesis which come to a terrifying head when you add into the mix a bunch of school bullies, a terrifying mother and the prom night from hell.
Adapted into a near-flawless movie in 1977 by Brian DePalma, I can’t even begin to see how Flanagan, who has worked some magic with King already with Gerald’s Game, Doctor Sleep and The Life of Chuck, can do it better, but it seems that Flanagan is aware of this and has something new planned for the tragic, terrifying tale: “De Palma adapted it faithfully and beautifully 50 years ago,” Flanagan recently said.

“So for me, this was never going to be a straight adaptation. The only way to approach it was to build something new out of the ingredients of Carrie. Otherwise, there’s really no purpose in trying to retread ground that’s been so beautifully walked before.”
Whatever happens, this trailer looks promising and Flanagan rarely misses, so this is officially one I am excited for.
