With the news last week that Warner Bros were looking to make a new Matrix movie, we’ve all been wondering what it would be.
We’ve been reassured that, thankfully, it would NOT be a reboot but rather an in-universe story and it had us believing that Warners are looking to create a {sigh} cinematic Matrix universe.
And it looks like perhaps we were right.
A new report seems to believe that the touted involvement of Michael B Jordan was because Warners have long been interested in doing a movie based on the life of the young Morpheus, played in the original movies by Lawrence Fishburne, with B Jordan the current favourite to step into the leather coat and legless glasses.
This could be a very interesting movie, indeed – how did Morpheus become aware of The Matrix? How did he meet The Oracle? When did he first find Neo? Where did he put together his team? Where or how did he get the Nebuchadnezzar? There’s a fascinating story in there, we’ve no doubt.
Oh, and apparently Warners have put together a writer’s room too, which makes us believe that one new movie is just the tip of the iceberg.
So what do you reckon? Would Morpheus: The Early Years be something you’d watch? What about B Jordan playing the young Morpheus? How about a Matrix shared universe? Let us know if any or all of this is of interest…
