Is there a Thunderbolts movie coming as part of the MCU?

So, I have – and make no secret of it – a very love/hate relationship with the MCU. I love some of it, i hate other parts.

One of the things that annoys me most is how it treated its villains, especially in the early days.

I still have forgiven them for killing Jeff Bridges’ Obadiah Stane in the first Iron Man all those years ago. And it continues with the likes of Christopher Eccleston in Thor: The Dark Work and – oh, this still makes me angry – Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2!

How can they take some of the world’s greatest actors and resign them to poor villain status – who, like a plastic bottle, are one-use only?!

Gaaaah!

Well, it looks like we may be something to ease the pain… a Thunderbolts movie.

Who?!

Well, the Thunderbolts are kinda Marvel’s version of Suicide Squad only in Suicide Squad the villains are forced (usually) to do good things, whereas the Thunderbolts is a group of bad guys trying to make amends.

Word is the plan is to make it a series of movies and to feature villains – likely pre-established in the MCU – coming together to make a superteazm of their own.

And word is the bad guy will be The Leader AKA Samuel Sterns – played by Tim Blake Nelson in the Edward Norton Hulk movie.

Although, like Norton himself, I’d imagine he’ll be recast if this happens.

Interestingly, speaking of Hulk, Red Hulk is a core member of the Thunderbolts and, in the comics, he is actually General Ross, played in The Incredible Hulk, Civil War and more by William Hurt – could he be back in a bigger role?

Anyway, it’s all speculation at this stage (apparently) but I’d pay to see this one.

Thoughts?
