POSSIBLE SPOILERS (IF TRUE)

When the cast list for Captain America: Civil War was announced a lot of people were surprised to see British actor Martin Freeman included and there has been major fan debate on who he might be playing. Possibilities such as the Red Skull, Government liaison Henry Gyrich and even Spider-man bad guy Norman Osborn have been discussed but it seems we may have finally found our answer.

Movie website Latino-Review are reporting that Freeman will be playing a character called Edward Chase, the yet unrevealed Prime Minister of Britain. It also appears that we may have heard his character referenced in Avengers: Age of Ultron. During the scene with Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaw in Wakanda, he references a ‘Minister’ while on the telephone.

Due to this little tidbit can we assume Edward Chase is leaning more towards being an antagonist for our heroes? Again, according to Latino-Review, Chase will be a major advocate for the Superhero Registration Act, the reason for the superhero civil war, after heavy destruction and casualties on British soil as a result of a fight between Cap and Crossbones. He will also be associated with Villains Klaw as we previously stated and Civil War’s major villain, Baron Zemo played by Daniel Brühl.

Again, this is to be taken as speculative but if true, what do you guys think? Is this role suited for Freeman? Did you see him in another role? Let us know!

Following the events of the Age of Ultron, the collective governments of the world pass an act designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This polarizes opinion amongst the Avengers cause two factions that side with Iron Man (pro registration) or side with Captain America (anti registration) which causes an epic conflict between former allies.

Captain America: Civil War will be released in the UK on 29 April 2016 and in the U.S. on 6 May 2016.
