Oh, James Gunn you big dirty tease!

The writer/director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 which is currently filming has just posted the image below and has us all flustered at the notion of Thor appearing on the movie.

That’s Gunn holding Thor’s mighty hammer (steady on), Mjolnir.

Now, we doubt Gunn would spoil something like Thor meeting the Guardians in such a way… but it’s a wonderful thought, isn’t it? Especially given that we now know Thor: Ragnarok may well cover Planey Hulk territory too (here) – this would certainly feel like a logical meeting within the MCU, wouldn’t it?

We know ‘it’s all connected’ so we’ll have to wait another 11 months to find out for sure.

But we are hoping…

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to hit theaters May 5, 2017.

I’m starting to think this has nothing to being worthy.

UPDATE:

Sadly, Gunn has taken to Facebook to make it clear that no, Thor won’t be appearing:  “This is actually a nice little collection of my and the cast’s behind-the-scenes glimpses at Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. (And, no, Thor isn’t in Vol. 2 – the props guy just happened to have it around and I decided to take a pic with it. Not sure if I’m able to lift it because I’m worthy or because I’m soulless like an elevator).

“Hope you all have a great weekend.”

He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
