Jeffrey Dean Morgan says he still really wants to play Flashpoint Batman

May 8th, 2021 by Marc Comments

You may recall last June it emerged that Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played Thomas Wayne in Batman V Superman, was in the running to return to the character in The Flash movie but as the Flashpoint version of Batman (here).

And there was much rejoicing.

Then We learned, a month later, that Michael Keaton was in talks to return as Batman as he played him in 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns. And there was much rejoicing. However, Morgan then confirmed Keaton’s involvement and that meant his returning to the role was unlikely (here). And we were equally happy and sad.

However, at the time, Morgan confirmed that he was available for the role, should it arise. And now the star is once saying he really wants to step into the cape and cowl.

“At the top of my list [of superheroes to play] has always been Batman, that’s always been my favorite superhero,” Morgan said.

He went on to confirm again to confirm that he had had talks about appearing in Flashpoint and says that he really wants to play the role soon because his age is creeping up on him: “And talking about Flashpoint has been very fun, I get asked about it a lot. I love the story of Flashpoint Batman. Who knows? Who knows with DC? Who knows with how these franchises work? I suppose I probably have like another two, three-year window, and then I’m gonna be too old. There’s no way. So, look, I’m available. Everybody knows I’m available. I say I’m available, I’ve been saying it for five years. We’ll see what happens. There’s so many superheroes.”

At this stage it’s unlikely that we will see Morgan in the role, at least in The Flash, as Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton are both returning as their respective multiverse versions of the character, but man, I would love to see him in the role at some stage as he’s a superb actor and would bring real gravitas to the role of Flashpoint Batman/Bruce Wayne.

What say you all?

Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash is set to hit theaters on June 3rd, 2022.
