Jennifer Love Hewitt talks returning to I Know What You Did Last Summer series

Well, we’ve had Jamie Lee Curtis’ return to the Halloween series in recent years and Neve Campbell is set to once again stand against Ghostface in Scream VII, so it’s not a big surprise that another much-loved final girl is set to make her return.

Yes, almost thirty years after fighting the hooked-hand killer for the first time  in I Know What You Did Last Summer, Jennifer Love Hewitt is getting set to return to fight for her life in a third installment.

Speaking to Entertainment tonight, the actress said: “I can’t confirm but I won’t deny, how about that?” Hewitt said before adding that should she and her character, Julie James, return, she would be “a lot older than she was but still kick ass”.

The news has been around for a while and the actress confirmed last year on the Inside of You podcast that she would ‘100% return’ (here).

However, the actress did say she hasn’t seen a script, adding: “Here’s the truth, I don’t actually know what they have planned but I’m assuming that it’ll be lots of screaming and running around.”

She did, however, add: “hopefully the tops will be a little bigger than they were the first movie.”

Cool new rumours about the future of Scream including Neve Campbell, a new trilogy, TV series and more…

While Hewitt is a little cagey, we know that Do Revenge and Someone Great director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will be directing the third movie, with MFA writer Leah McKendrick penning the screenplay. We also know that Freddie Prinze Jnr is also in talks to return as Ray Bronson in the new movie.

So, what say you all, does Lucy deserve a return? Is she as big a character as Sidney Prescott or Laurie Strode? Let me know…
