Well, it’s really happening… we’ve been telling you for a while, but now it’s confirmed!
Top Gun producer Jerry Bruckheimer tweeted (see below) an image of himself and Tom Cruise together and revealed: “Just got back from a weekend in New Orleans to see my old friend @TomCruise and discuss a little Top Gun 2”
How’s that for a slice of fried gold?!
After the death of Tony Scott it was feared that the movie wouldn’t happen but as star Val Kilmer said: “We will all miss Tony Scott one of the kindest gentlemen I’ve ever met in the film biz, but let’s fire up some fighter jets again!!!”
The movie will apparently focus on drone warfare and how it effects the real pilots in fighter jets. Skydance Productions CEO and producer David Ellison said: “Justin Marks is writing the screenplay right now. He has a phenomenal take to really update that world for what fighter pilots in the navy have turned into today. There is an amazing role for Maverick in the movie and there is no Top Gun without Maverick. It is going to be Maverick playing Maverick. I don’t think it is what people are going to expect, and we are very, very hopeful that we get to make the movie very soon. But like all things, it all comes down to the script, and Justin is writing as we speak.”
Are you excited to see Maverick and Ice Man back up on the big screen? Hell, yes, you are!
