Yes! It looks like the great JK Simmons is returning to Gotham City as Commissioner Jim Gordon in HBO Max’s Batgirl movie.
The star previously appeared as Gordon alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman and the rest of the team in Justice League and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. However, with all the talk of the Snyderverse being written out of the DCEU, we were wondering if we were getting him back at any point or if moving forward, Jeffrey Wright’s Gordon from the upcoming The Batman would be moved into the role of the DCEU’s only GCPD Commissioner.
But, it seems that, no, Simons is in talks to return for Batgirl, starring Leslie Grace (here) in the titular role in the streamer’s movie to be directed by Bad Boys for Life’s Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and written by Bumblebee’s Christina Hodson.
This means that Affleck’s Batman has a Batgirl and we know there’s dead Robin in his past too… the Batfamily is already growing in the DCEU.
There’s not much else known at this stage but, while the two Gordons may be confusing to some, having two of Hollywood’s best actors in the role of Batman’s greatest ally is a win-win for fans.
This movie just got even better… let me know all your thoughts, gang.
