John Boyega, Joe Cornish confirmed back for Attack the Block sequel! Yes!

May 17th, 2021 by Marc Comments

We reported a year ago that it looked Star Wars star John Boyega was returning to his roots in a sequel to Joe Cornish’s Attack the Block (here) and now it seems we have confirmation of it.

The original movie saw an alien invasion come to a block in London where it was met by resistance in the form of a handful of residents (one of whom was Doctor Who’s Jodie Whitaker) and a local gang of youths led by Boyega’s Moses. If you’ve not seen it, I strongly recommend it.

And now Moses is set to return to the big screen.

“It’s been a decade since Attack the Block was released and so much has changed since then,” says Boyega “[and] I’m excited to see this heightened story return to the streets of London. Moses has remained one of my favourite characters to play and bringing him back is a huge honour.”

It’s great too that Cornish is back to helm the adventure: “I’m thrilled we’re officially announcing our return to the world of Attack the Block on the tenth anniversary of the film’s release. I can’t wait to work alongside John again, bringing audiences an even bigger slice of inner-city alien action.”

And it sounds like it will indeed feature the return of the alien menace!

I love the original movie and I’m a big fan of Boyega’s so I’m excited to see him getting a return to this universe and hope that he gets treated better than he did in the galaxy far, far away. But that’s another story.

Let’s hope they get Whitaker back too so we can all see how great she is with well-written material.

Are you excited for this? Let me know your thoughts, guys…
