Keanu Reeves’ surprisingly badass John Wick is getting a sequel, which now has been given a new title; and more importantly, a release date!

John Wick: Chapter Two (as it is now called) will be released in the US on February 10th 2017. Exciting stuff, right? Let’s just hope that the release of the sequel is earlier in the UK than the original was!

After the success of the first film, it’s no wonder that the filmmakers jumped on the prospect of a sequel very quickly. And there is certainly lots to get excited about.

Keanu Reeves is back in the title role, joined by John Leguizamo, Ian McShane and Lance Reddick to name but a few. Although there’s some exciting new cast news with Ruby Rose, Laurence Fishburne and Peter Stormare joining the gang.

At this point, there are no explicit details on the nature of the plot, other than the fact that Wick will be adventuring to Rome in the new film.

With the same director and screenwriter at the helm in Chad Stahelski and Derek Kolstad, we’re certainly expecting big things. According to Empire, Chad Stahelski is feeling confident about his sequel saying, “We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original.”

Stahelski also added what he thinks it takes to make a good action character.

“It’s the matter of story and how much you like the character. That’s always the most important. If there’s great action but you have a character that no-one likes and doesn’t have charisma you’re not going to watch it. Look at any great action star, whether it’s Harrison Ford or Liam Neeson or Robert Downey Jr., pick a name, you love the guy first. Good action, bad action, you just love them in action. So we want to make sure we have a story and a character that everybody loves and then we’ll dress it with action that we promise will be awesome.”

John Wick: Chapter Two certainly has the director convinced that the film will be a success, here’s hoping that it lives up to expectations.
