October 4th, 2017 by Marc Comments

James Cameron has brought an old friend to the planet Pandora for the Avatar sequels…

Kate Winslet has signed up to what will be the most expensive movie franchise ever with the four sequels coming in a aprox $1billion!

Of course the duo have history with Winslet starring in Cameron’s Titanic movie two decades ago.

The writer/director had this to say: “Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career. I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.”

Ronal, huh?

That’s all we know for sure right now, but we love Winslet and the Avatar sequels have us curious…

Production for all four planned Avatar sequels officially began on September 25th with the first film released on December 18th, 2020. The second sequel will on December 17th, 2021, followed by Avatar 4 on December 20th, 2024 and Avatar 5 on December 19th, 2025.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
