There’s been a lot of chatter recently about finally getting a fourth movie and tonight we have the news that we are indeed going back into the mainframe… with a few familiar faces.
Yes, Neo and Trinity – Keanu reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are with back as is co-writer/director of the original trilogy Lana Wachowski, previously one of the Wachowski brothers.
Sadly, missing is Laurence Fishburne as Morpheus with rumour being he will be portrayed by a younger actor this time around, suggesting the movie takes place along a different timeline. This ties in with the Michael B Jordan as young Morpheus rumours we heard a while back (here)
Warner Bros chairman Toby Emmerich made the announcement earlier tonight:“We could not be more excited to be re-entering ‘The Matrix’ with Lana.
“Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in ‘The Matrix’ universe.”
Adding to this, Lana Wachowski added: “Many of the ideas Lilly [Wachowski] and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”
While there is no denying the original trilogy really only had one good instalment, it’s exciting to think we’re getting ready to enter The Matrix again…
