So we only just reported that Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthoy Russo reckoned a Black Widow movie is a “no brainer” and will probably happen soon (here).

Well, now Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has gone one step further and pretty much said a Black Widow movie WILL happen.

On a Q&A Session with Deadline, Feige was asked out of The Falcon, War Machine, Black Widow and Hawkeye, which Avenger is most likely to get the solo movie treatment?

Feige explained: “We’ve announced the next nine movies, ten counting ‘Civil War,’ through the end of 2019. Where we go beyond that are ongoing discussions that we’ll focus on in the next few years because we have a lot to do before then. Of the characters that you’ve just mentioned I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow.

“We think she’s an amazing character. We think Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of her is amazing. She’s a lead Avenger and has amazing stories in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a standalone franchise.”

Scarlett Johansson has now played the character five times in supporting roles and continues to be the Avenger people most want to see in a solo adventure… and it looks like it’s going to happen.

We’re looking forward to it… and wonder if it’ll be a superhero outing or more of a spy drama, or perhaps… well, the possibilities are endless, really.

Committed or not, it looks like it’ll be a while before we see it but good things are worth the wait, right?
