Kevin Feige says Moon Knight is part of the MCU’s future…

April 23rd, 2018 by Marc Comments

We all know a Moon Knight series has been rumoured for Netflix for ages (here) but now Kevin Feige gives some cool details about the character and his place in the future of the MCU.

Is Moon Knight part of the plan for the future of the MCU? “Yes,” says Feige.

“Does that mean five years from now, 10 years from now, 15 years from now? There are stacks of character cards that we have in our, in our development offices, which we look at. Which we pull for him, which we discussed.”

In case you don’t know who Moon Knight is, here’s the breakdown: “Often described as “Marvel’s Batman,” former Marine, boxer and mercenary Marc Spector becomes a living avatar for the Egyptian god “Khonshu,” using a second chance at life, after almost dying in Cairo, to develop a small fortune, and fight crime under the name of Moon Knight, utilizing his impressive training, gadgets, and super-strength derived from the lunar cycle.”

But has there been hints at the character already in the MCU?

Omega Underground speculate: In Captain America: The Winter Soldier during Sitwell’s rundown of HYDRA threats it included a man from Cairo, Egypt.

The same spot was on a map of incidents that Thuderbolt Ross was showing the Avengers in Captain America: Civil War.

It should be pointed out both Wakanda (Black Panther) and Atlantis (Namor) were teased by Jon Favreau in a SHIELD map spotted in Iron Man 2, so maps could give us clues about future characters.

Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director James Gunn said recently that he has an idea for a Moon Knight movie (here) which he pitched to Feige… could this be the movie we see eventually? Only time will tell.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
