Flying in the face of last week’s alleged casting list (here), a new rumour is that Kraven the Hunter is the big bad in the standalone Spider-man movie from Marvel/Sony.

We never really bought into the cast list anyway. Honest.

Anyway…

Heroic Hollywood, when not taking pot shots at other sites, reports that they may have the scoop: “Last week, Karen Moy, the Vice President of Creative Affairs over at Sony purchased a copy of Kraven’s Last Hunt trade paperback on Amazon… I did some additional sleuthing and a quick search of Karen Moy on the leaked Sony emails database over on Wikileaks reveals that she has previously made book purchases on Amazon for her former boss Amy Pascal. In my experience, where there is smoke there is fire.”

The site draws the conclusion that, with Spider-man being written currently, it’s likely that the book was research; is the new movie by-passing Doc Ock, Goblin, the Osbornes etc for Sergei Kravinoff?

In the comics, Kraven is a big game hunter who believes that putting Spidey’s head on his wall would make him the undeniable world’s finest. He also has superhuman strength and agility.

It’s a shot in the dark, but Kraven would make sense as the villain and it certainly would be fun to see him on the big screen.

Thoughts?
