Looks like Marvel approached Ben Affleck about returning as Daredevil in Doctor Strange sequel…

A fun new rumour has appeared online regarding the characters from the extended Marvel big-screen universe that we may see in the upcoming Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

We’re hearing the rumours again that Tom Cruise may appear briefly as an alternate version of Tony Stark/Iron Man – we reported on this as recently as last year (here) – and recently James McAvoy has been spotted sporting a shaved head again along with Sophie Turner rocking the red hair again, fueling more rumours of them both returning as Charles Xavier and Jean Grey from Fox’s X-Men movies. We’re also still hearing Hugh Jackman is wanted as Wolverine to appear, setting up the next incarnation of the character, this time in the MCU.

But the most recent, from out of nowhere, rumour is that Marvel have approached Ben Affleck to return as Matt Murdock/Daredevil as he played in the 2003 movie.

Word is that Marvel have asked Affleck to appear in a cameo in the movie with an option to wrap up that version of the character’s arc in a later movie… although they don’t expect Affleck to come across.

According to Big Screen Leaks: “Marvel did indeed reach out to Affleck for a cameo as Daredevil. They sent out preliminary contracts to his team, but I’m not sure if anything came of it.”

This was confirmed by KC Walsh of Geeks Worldwide added: “This was something I heard as well, but I wouldn’t expect a cameo.”

It’s cool that Marvel did approach Affleck – if true – but I honestly can’t see it happening as Affleck has been soured of big screen blockbusters (here) and especially superheroes… that being said, if the money and timing were right, it would be a very cool – and fun – little Easter Egg for Marvel fans.

What say you all? Would you like to see Affleck return as Matt Murdock? Let me know your thoughts, folks…

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to premiere in theaters on May 6, 2022.
