Looks like Patty Jenkins’ Star Wars: Rogue Squadron movie won’t be happening

September 15th, 2022 by Marc Comments

Well, I can’t say we’re really surprised but it looks like Patty Jenkins’ Star Wars movie, Rogue Squadron, is no longer on the upcoming schedule of Disney/Star Wars movies.

Scheduled for December 2023, the movie was removed from the production schedule last year, so many believed it was never happening and now it looks like they were right.

Citing the usual ‘creative differences’ between Jenkins and the studio, if I were a betting man, I’d say this movie is not going to see the light of day, though at this stage, after Thor: Love and Thunder and The Last Jedi, I’d feel happier if we learned for sure that Taika Waititi and Rian Johnson’s Star Wars movies were off the table too but, sadly, there’s been no word on those at this stage.

Disney also set release dates for  the live-action Snow White starring Rachel Zegler (March 22, 2024), Inside Out 2 (June 14, 2024), The Lion King: Mufasa (July 5, 2024), Next Goal Wins from Taika Waititi (April 21, 2023), Wish (Nov. 22, 2023) and Pixar’s Elio (March 1, 2024).

Man, I’m starting to wonder if we’re ever going to see Star Wars on the big screen again, I mean, I love the small screen stuff but Star Wars belongs on the biggest screen possible.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
