Don’t worry, Benicio del Toro fans – his take on The Collector will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.
Zoe Saldana let slip the news of his return during a Facebook video on her husband’s official page during a discussion of Sicario.
Needless to say, Saldana loved Sicario. But – and this is key – she said that she’d see him on Guardians.
Other confirmed returning cast members – outside of the five key players – include Michael Rooker’s Yondu and Karen Gillan’s Nebula.
Quite how Taneleer Tivan (The Collector’s real name) will fit in with the sequel remains to be seen, especially as it seemed as if his job was done in the first Guardians.
Perhaps director James Gunn wants to have more Howard the Duck-based fun with the Oscar-winning actor, after the original movie’s surprise post-credits sting.
This isn’t the only sci-fi franchise del Toro is a part of, with Star Wars: Episode VIII currently shooting, due out on May 26, 2017 so we’ll get to see plenty of the actor in years to come! Fingers crossed he gets that pink lightsaber he wanted…
