Mads Mikkelsen officially replaces Johnny Depp in Fantastic Beasts 3

November 25th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Following our report a couple of weeks ago that Mads Mikkelsen being in talks to replace the fired Johnny Depp on the third Fantastic Beasts movie (here), it seems tonight we can confirm the casting.

Depp played Gellert Grindelwald, the villain of the series, in the second movie in the franchise before being fired last month after having only filmed a couple of scenes (we’re not even getting into the why – google is your friend) and quickly Mikkelsen’s name came into the talks of who would replace him.

And now he has been officially cast in the role and, as much as I like Depp, I can’t wait to see him in the Harry Potter universe.

Fantastic Beasts 3 will star Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller, and Jude Law with filming having kicked off in March this year before, well, you know what happened this year.

The movie is set release in November 2021. Probably.
