Merely weeks ago Marvel’s CCO Joe Quesada said that all was well with Netflix’s upcoming Iron Fist series, despite rumours to the contrary (here) and it looks like he wasn’t kidding.

So now it looks like not only is the series moving ahead, but it’s very close to nailing down a showrunner in the form of Dexter and Six Feet Under’s Executive Producer Scott Buck.

Iron Fist will be the fourth and final character in Netflix’s Defenders line-up and is due next year, probably towards the end of the year but we’re just guessing.

Marvel describes Iron Fist as follows: “Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.”

The series will be the most mystical and, probably, FX heavy of the Netflix/Marvel shows and we really can’t wait to see how it’s handled, given the dark tone of what we’ve seen so far. But with Buck attached we’re expecting big things.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
