It looks like Star Wars is set to get some of that MCU love as the man behind the world’s biggest franchise is jumping across to help with the world’s second biggest franchise.
Yes, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige is heading over to the galaxy far, far away to work on a new movie which came about when he was chatting to Disney Studios chief Alan Horn and Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy and has a great idea for a Star Wars movie.
Now, there’s almost definitely other mechanics at work here. Star Wars, since the release of The Last Jedi, has been going through a rough patch and it’s been no secret that Horn has not been happy with Kathleen Kennedy’s steering of the ship… is Feige, who is stepping away from the MCU soon, set to look after Star Wars going forward? I’d have to say there may be something to this.
Here’s what Horn has said: “We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox.
“With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”
This is big news, I just hope that Feige, who has done undeniably great things with the MCU, can understand that Star Wars needs gravitas that the Marvel movies do not. Star Wars is a steak… the MCU (and this in not a bad thing at all) is McDonalds.
So what say you all?
Is Feige moving in for a bigger role in Star Wars or is he just looking to tell a story and get out? Whatever happens, it’ll be worth keeping an eye on, that’s for sure.
