Matt Damon’s next Bourne movie, his return to the franchise after it took a different direction in a 2012 spin-off, still doesn’t have a title despite being less than seven months away. However, we’ve been given a new picture of him looking brooding and stern, looking into the distance, by Entertainment Weekly.
Damon has been speaking to the magazine via Squareeyed, teasing the new direction for the franchise and what we should expect to see from his ass-kicking title character.
“There’s been the financial collapse, the great recession, all these issues of cyber warfare and civil liberties,” since 2007’s Bourne Ultimatum, Damon said. Paul Greengrass also returns to direct the film.
“We find [Bourne] in a dark and tortured place” is the only clue he’d give to the character. The story so far has been kept largely under wraps, though Alicia Vikander’s role as a cyberspecialist and Damon’s earlier hint means they’ll probably be taking a very different look at terrorism this time around.”
