Neil Marshal, talking Dog Soldiers sequel says ‘things are in the works’

Oh, yes, please!

Neil Marshal, director of 2002’s superb horror/action movie Dog Soldiers has revealed while talking about his new horror movie The Lair, that we could once again be heading into the world of his super scary and super nasty werewolves.

The Lair is Marshal’s first real return to, as he puts it, “full-blooded horror and intense genre action in the style of Dog Soldiers, The Descent and Doomsday,” and it seems that his return to the genre means he may be ready/able to step back into that world: “There’s more of a chance now than ever before,” he says.

“There’s things in the works and we’re seeing what we can do,” he goes on, “Certainly, myself and Kevin McKidd and [producer] Chris Figg are up for it to revisit this world. Over the past 18 years the question I get asked pretty much more than anything else is when are we going to get Dog Soldiers 2?’ Part of me thinks I’d like to go back and re-visit that world somehow. And if Kev’s up for it, then that would make it worthwhile for sure.”

He adds: “So we’ll see… you never know.”

It certainly seems that Marshal would like to make a sequel to the one-of-a-kind soldiers vs werewolves in the Scottish highlands horror if he’s having discussions with the star and producer of the original and I, for one, would be totally up for it as I adored the original movie.

In fact, some of you may recall that in 2004 a sequel, Dog Soldiers: Fresh Meat, was announced but obviously never happened.

What say you all? Would you be up for more Scottish werewolves? Let me know, gang…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
