You know there’s another Star Wars movie coming this year, right?

As we all come down from the high of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it’s time to look forward to Rogue One.

And it seems that today we have a new potential piece of news on Gareth Edwards’ story about the brave rebels who stole the Death Star plans that lead to the destruction of the spacestation at the end of A New Hope in the form of some minor casting news.

MakingStarWars.net are reporting that the main character in the movie may be called Lyra Erso, as played by actress Gabrielle Fritz according to her resume on Casting Call Pro. Now, the rumour is that Fritz is the stunt double for actress Felicity Jones, meaning that Jones, the movie’s lead, is playing Erso.

Beyond that, Jedi News are reporting Bern Collaco is playing a stormtrooper, Angus Cook is a mechanic and Nabilah Karim is a “samurai”; this is interesting as Samurai could mean Jedi… or something else, perhaps? An Inquistor? A Sith? Who knows, but it certainly raises more questions than it answers.

More as we get it. Obviously.

In related news, actor Ben Mendelsohn, who stars in the movie, talked to Deadline about it and it seems that The Force Awakens is the bar they are all aiming for: “I wouldn’t want to spoil anything for anyone on those levels…But you can expect something pretty special, I’d like to think. I was in the audience for number seven and it was delightful. It exceeded my wildest hopes and dreams for what it might be. It’s a beautiful film. So we’ve got something to reach for and that’s a good thing.”

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
