Like so many great monsters, one of the best things about Jason Vorhees, the killer from the Friday The 13th movies – is that he is an unstoppable monster; even death can’t slow him down and on top of that, here’s the deal-maker… no-one knows why.
But now Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller is touting another movie although he’s not sure if it’s a sequel to the 2009 remake or a new take or a throwback to the originals… and he’s threatening to explain just why Jason is the monster we love to hate.
“There’s always been this supernatural aspect to these movies. It defies logic that, you see Jason get killed in every movie, including ours, the 2009 one. And then he comes back and no one’s ever really investigated what that is. So that’s something that I think about a little bit. Like it is supernatural, but what is he? Those are the things that we’re toying with. Nothing has been decided. But those type of things: How does he always come back?”
Here’s the thing; the scariest monsters have no explanation. If you know why something is the way it is, you can work on stopping it; to fixing it… and no-one should ever fix Jason. Or maybe that’s just us.
Whatever happens, the movie will be directed by The Signal and V/H/S’s David Bruckner, although there’s no word on when it may arrive. Check the diary, when’s the next Friday the 13th?
