New Scream VII cast and plot details lead to exciting places

April 7th, 2024 by Marc Comments

Hmmmmmmm… a very interesting tidbit of potential information on the upcoming Scream VII tonight.

You may recall that I reported (here) that alongside returning stars Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox as Sidney Prescott and Gale Weathers, we would see a new group of younger cast members in their 20s rounding out the new faces.

Well, now we might know who the new, younger cast are.

New Scream video game to be a prequel to the 1996 original movie?

According to Scooper Daniel RPK, Sidney’s family will be in the crosshairs this time out – this would also support the rumours that Patrick Dempsey’s Mark Kincaid, who married Sidney after Scream 3 and has been name-dropped several times in the series since, is also set to return.

“They are looking to cast Sid’s two kids,” the report claims, “It seems like the movie will focus on Sid’s family as all 4 (her, her husband and 2 kids) are listed as leads.”

Now, not to go there AGAIN but this would also seem to support the rumours that the Cult of Ghostface idea would come back into play – this was an earlier abandoned plot for Scream 3 that would have seen Matthew Lillard’s Stu Macher surviving his ‘death’ in the first movie and creating a team of killers who he would use to try to get revenge on Sidney.

Scream VI star Liana Liberato reveals deleted scene that probably should have stayed in the movie

I love this idea and I can’t help feeling that this movie, while probably not the final Scream, may draw to a close the story that started back in 1996 when Drew Barrymore’s Casey first answered that phone.

Oh, and if you’ve ever wondered how the Scream Queen herself, Neve Campbell, ranks the Scream movies, we now know – controversial as the ranking is:
