While we’ve been pretty sure for a while that Thor: Ragnarok would see Thor and Hulk probably face off in a gladiatorial battle and now we can confirm it.

You may remember THIS story whae we speculated that: “Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Cate Blanchett’s Hela team up and banish Thor from Asgard, destroying Mjolnir. Thor doesn’t have his hammer and he’s forced to defeat a number of opponents in a gladiatorial-style event, where the champion happens to be Hulk.”

Well, according to the new synopsis from Marvel, it seems we may have been on the money in a few ways. Here’s the synopsis:

In Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!

So, there you have it, Planet Hulk and Ragnarok all rolled into one… with Doctor Strange for good measure!

We’re really excited now as Marvel continue to make the single character movies so much more.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
