While it took longer to get here than expected, it seems that the fourth – I don’t know why everyone is calling it third – Jumanji movie is getting ready to steal next Christmas.
Following on from Jumanji, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level (see? Fourth), the movie is aiming for a December 11th, 2026 release date.
While not confirmed, early word is that Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jake Black will be reuniting with director Jake Kasdan to see out the new trilogy which follows on from Robin Williams’ 1995 movie. This time it will be written by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg.
The last we heard of the movie’s development was in 2021 when producer Hiram Garcia said: “We’ve got a big vision for [the next ‘Jumanji’] movie. So we’re fired up for that.”
Star Kevin Hart said just last year that he expects it to be the final outing for the cast, particularly him and Johnson: “We need something big to put our duo to an end, and not just leave it undone.”
The movie will follow on from Kasdan and Johnson’s less than stellar Red One, currently in cinemas and it really seems that Johnson’s star has been in decline since Black Adam, so returning to Jumanjii’s world might just be the hit the ex-wrestler needs.
