No, Jason Reitman did not say he’s working on another Ghostbusters movie after Afterlife

June 18th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Ok, so there’s been some confusion over what was said by Ghostbusters Afterlife writer/director Jason Reitman on the recent Ghostbusters reunion on Josh Gad’s Reunited Apart series (which you can watch here).

In the interview, which features all the cast of the original classic movie, Reitman is asked by Gad: “You guys have been working on a little sequel. Can you tell us anything, and if so, what can you tell us?”

To which Reitman replied: “Yeah, no, I can’t tell you anything, but we are working on another instalment.”

Now, I can kind of see why some might think what he’s saying is that he’s working on ANOTHER movie to follow Afterlife, but he’s not – if you listen, it’s pretty clear he’s talking about the third movie in the franchise and not hinting at a fourth.

However, the cynic in me thinks it’s more likely this came about because ‘Jason Reitman confirms he’s working on Ghostbusters 4’ is good for clicks.

That said, I’m hopeful that someday soon we WILL be writing that he has confirmed another movie, but let’s see how this one does first, huh?

Ghostbusters: Afterlife will arrive in cinema on March 5th, 2021.
