Well, this new Star Wars movie has been an adventure so far and it hasn’t even started filming yet.
Just days ago we reported that Lost creator Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were writing a new Star Wars movie set post The Rise of Skywalker – the movie was set to be directed by Ms Marvel’s Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and then, days later, it was revealed that Lindelof and Britt-Gibson had departed, leaving the movie without a writer.
However, it seems that a writer has been found and it’s an unusual but potentially brilliant choice.
Peaky blinders creator Steven Knight will write the screenplay and is hoped to be the first movie since 2019’s Rise of Skywalker.
Jon Favreau says there’s no audience for original Star Wars trilogy release
Knight has a long career writing and is responsible for the superb Dirty Pretty Things (if you’ve not seen it, check it out asap) and Eastern Promises.
Knight can definitely write and we have a feeling that just as Andor took Star Wars in a much more straight-faced drama direction, his movie might give Star Wars a look and feel it doesn’t usually have and that’s fine by us.
We expect to hear more at next month’s Star Wars Celebration Europe where we’re hearing rumours three movies will be announced… let’s hope they are luckier than the last three ot be announced.
