“Prometheus 2 will film before Alien 5,” says Ridley Scott

While we are excited for both the Alien and Prometheus sequels, we have to admit Alien 5 has us more excited. But it looks like we’ll have to wait on that one.

It looks like work on Neil Blomkamp’s Alien 5 is on hold until Prometheus 2 is in the can and that’s due to the commands of producer Ridley Scott.

Anyone who knows the Alien and Prometheus movies will know that Scott is where both movie franchises (all one franchise, we suppose) started as he directed both.

“Alien 5 is still very much in the works, as Fox remains hot on the idea. Blomkamp continues to work on the script  (only an outline existed previously) and refine the tale he is telling. Ridley Scott is still producing, but has insisted on ‘Prometheus 2′ being made first,” says a source on both movies.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing that Alien 5 has to be postponed for another year or so as it would surely have to imply that we’ll probably get a better final product, but the down side is we want Ripley, Hicks and co back as soon as possible…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
