It’s confirmed that Ready or Not 2 is officially in development!
We reported at the start of the month that word on the Nerdvine was that a sequel to the original 2019 Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin horror movie starring the amazing Samara Weaving as a bride caught up in a supernatural game of life and death with her new family, was in development and now it’s been confirmed.
it seems that Radio Silence as Gillet and Bettinelli-Olpin along with producer Chad Villella are collectively known, have been developing the sequel ever since the success of the first movie’s release in 2019 and they have confirmed that the script is done.
While I was excited to hear about the sequel, I was worried when Escape Room director Adam Robitel was attached – not because he’s a bad choice but just because Radio Silence themselves weren’t attached to direct but now that I know the sequel is being fully developed by them, I’m officially very excited again (yeah, like I never was!).
“It’s getting figured out,” Gillett says, adding: “What we can say is that there is a script that is an absolute f—ing banger of a sequel. And however it gets made, and in whatever capacity we are helping get it made, we are so excited that it’s happening. That movie is truly the love of our creative lives in a lot of ways.”
But it gets better, not only are Radio Silence back on board, but writers Guy Busick and R Christopher Murphy have returned too with Gillet revealing that they started working the sequel out almost as soon as the first movie was released: “I don’t think we knew after making it that there would be so much story left to tell.
“We’re so proud of what that first movie is, we’re so proud of what the sequel is. We’re just really excited, and fingers crossed that it gets made.”
Given that Abigail, from the same team, is currently getting rave reviews and terrifying audiences right now in cinemas – and I’m still convinced that it’s the same world as Ready or Not, ok? It’s a hill I’ll die on! – I’d say it’s a safe bet that we’ll see Weaving’s Grace/the bride back on our screens soon.
And i cannot wait!
