Why is it I’m always talking about remakes! Anyway, we have yet another remake of yet another cult classic. The latest entry to this list is Road House, which is to be directed by Nick Cassavetes.

The interesting thing about this remake though, is that UFC Bantamweight Champion; Ronda Rousey will be staring in the lead role. It has been reported that Rousey will be playing a female version of the role originally portrayed by the late Patrick Swayze.

For those who are unaware, the original Road House, told the story of a bouncer hired to tame a rowdy bar in Missouri called The Double Deuce. Despite the film doing quite poorly upon its release, it has since garnered a significant cult following.

Time to do my usual song and dance about it being too early for a remake and all the usual arguments (you don’t even need me to tell you these any more), but maybe the casting of Rousey is a good sign. Rousey has been making a name for herself in the industry over the past several years, so much so that she may be in talks with Marvel to play Captain Marvel. So, for the moment, consider me cautiously optimistic.
