Rian Johnson signs exclusive deal with Netflix for two more Knives Out movies

April 2nd, 2021 by Marc Comments

As a Star Wars fan, this is a fantastic piece of news…

Netflix is close to finalising a deal with Rian Johnson to make not one, but two sequels to his 2019 movie Knives Out. This would make it the biggest streaming deal in history.

This would be bad news for cinemas as I am troubled by this moving away from the silver screen, especially during this damn pandemic but it’s good news for many people because, firstly Knives Out was a fun wee flick and secondly, anything that keeps him away from Star Wars after The Last Jedi, the better.

Word is Johnson will write and direct both sequels and also direct the movies which will begin filming this June in Greece.

It seems the movies were put up for auction between Apple, Amazon and Netflix with Netflix the winner.

I look forward to seeing these for sure and hopefully it will lead Johnson to making more movies that don’t involve wars. In the stars.

Anyway, now that I’ve likely annoyed several people, let me know your thoughts, guys.
