Ridley Scott is ready to go with the next Alien movie already…

In other news, Sir Ridley Scott proves that he is the cinematic equivalent of an elderly Tyneside shopkeeper refusing to move with the times and sell off his unsuccessful tobacconist’s.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the script to Alien: Covenant has a currently untitled script and according to Scott, if it all goes to plan, it could start shooting very soon.

“You’ve got to assume to a certain extent success,” the 79-year-old Durham-born former Hovis ad man added, “and from that you’d better be ready. You don’t want a two-year gap. So I’ll be ready to go again next year.”

As AVP Galaxy points out, it is not clear what Scott means by “next year” since the report comes from a set visit from last year.  But in a more recent interview with Fandango, Riddler said: “There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] Alien. If this is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more.”

It seems like this stems from sour grapes over lack of involvement on the other sequels to the franchise he started.

George is 21, lives in Bray, still struggling to find a paying job. He has ambitions of being a mad genius, but is content with his current life - and has been published in SFX, Empire, Fortean Times, Retrogamer magazine, etc. He is still trying to get work as a narrative designer in videogames, and has a few scripts in need of sale, but they're probably a bit sh@#e.
