John Williams

With news of the first Star Wars spinoff arriving last week, it was only a matter of time before more details began to flow out like The Force. Today, we got a piece of news that’ll make some Star Wars fans sad.

It’s been confirmed that legendary composer John Williams will not score the Star Wars spinoff Rogue One. Instead, it will go to Alexandre Desplat.

While you may think this is an insult, please don’t. Rogue One director Gareth Edwards actually worked with Desplat on Godzilla. Also, Desplat is an Oscar-winning composer, so he’s got the credentials.

True, this will be the first Star Wars movie John Williams hasn’t scored. But to honest…it had to happen sometime.
