There has been a lot of rumours recently that Ryan Reynolds might be returning as Green Lantern for Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max next year (here).
Now, the rumour is back and it’s saying that he’s still being sought and some of it has already been filmed already.
We learned a few days ago that Snyder has been granted a large budget (here) to get back Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill to film additional scenes and now it looks like some of that money – $70m reportedly – may be going to Ryan Reynolds to come back as Hal Jordan – although it seems that it may be a different version of Hal than we met in the Green Lantern movie. Multiverse, baby.
Anyway according to scooper and reviewer Grace Randolph, it really seems that we will see Reynolds in the shiny black and green again.
“One thing I can tell you now is that half of the Green Lantern scene has been filmed,” says Randolph.
“The Batman half. But I have heard that he wants Ryan Reynolds. I think considering how important nostalgia is these days and that the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern came out around the time that these other movies were coming out, I think it would just be absolutely perfect to do it that way. And Ryan Reynolds has been, you know, active on Twitter, signaling that he’s open to this.”
It was reported long, long ago before Justice League came out that in the end of the movie (originally), Batman was to be visited – or rather Bruce Wayne – by a Green Lantern. The word was that the scene was because the Lantern wanted to warn him that Darkseid was coming and also to tell him he has been chosen to become part of the Green Lantern Corp. Which he refuses.
So, I’m wondering if this is what Randolph is talking about? And if so, will it be Reynolds? Man, I’d love that. This movie could be setting out to correct several wrongs, not just the wrong of Justice League.
So what do you think? Will we see Reynolds back as Hal Jordan? And if so, would you like to see it? Let me know, gang…
