Pinch of salt time, fans, as it’s been reported by The Mirror (we know, hence ‘pinch of salt’) that we’re in for much more Joker in the coming years.
So the report is that DC/Warners want Joaquin Phoenix, star of the Oscar-winning Joker, to return to the now iconic role in not just one but two sequels.
Now, this is far from the first time we’ve heard rumours (here) of a Joker sequel, given how massive the first movie and we’d imagine that Warners are indeed biting at the proverbial bit to return to that grimy, terrifying vision of Gotham City.
As per the tabloid: “They plan to make two sequels in the next four years, with a long-term commitment to Joaquin and his Joker director Todd Phillips and producer Bradley Cooper. It’s all about getting Joaquin to accept the terms – and the biggest payday of his career by far.”
We do know that Phoenix is very picky about the projects he chooses and having him play such a role even once seemed like a homerun, the idea of him returning seems like a potential goldmine for the studio and a winner for the fans too.
But, for now, keep this filed under rumour and keep your fingers crossed… thought I would imagine that the truth of it is that the do want a sequel and it does depend on Phoenix.
What say you all? Think there’s plans for a Joker trilogy already under way at Warners? Let me know your thoughts…
