Samara Weaving has joined the cast of Scream 6 as new movie logo is revealed

July 15th, 2022 by Marc Comments

When we heard a couple of years ago that there was a new Scream movie, the fifth in the series, coming and it was to be helmed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the duo behind the superb Ready of Not, we hoped that the star of Ready of Not, Samara Weaving, would appear but alas, it wasn’t to be.

We heard some rumours that the actress was set to appear in the movie and even that the lead character of Sam was originally written for Weaving but due to travel restrictions due to that damned virus, she was unable to film the role so we hoped that we might see her in the now-filming sixth movie. At the time, she said: “We were talking about it, but our schedules aren’t gonna work, which is a bummer. We talked about it a lot, but unfortunately, because of scheduling, I couldn’t do it.”

And we have learned that this is happening this time out as Weaving has officially joined the cast.

The actress has made a name for herself in movies such as Ready or Not, The Babysitter and the Ash Vs Evil Dead series and while it’s not known what role she’s playing – the killer is probably what we all expect at this stage – we know that whatever the gig is, she’s going to kick ass.

But she’s not the only new bit of casting as it’s been revealed that Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tony Revolori, left, who played Flash Thompson, has also joined the cast and, again, no word in what role.

The duo will join a returning Hayden Panettiere as Scream 4‘s Kirby Reed and franchise favourite Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers.

Melissa Barrera (Sam), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy), Mason Gooding (Chad), Jenna Ortega (Tara) are all also returning along with new cast member Dermot Mulroney.

In related news, the logo for the new movie has been revealed and we’re not sure if it’s Scream II, Scream 2 (these make sense as the fifth movie went back to just being called Scream)  or Scream 6 – there’s a six in there, look hard. Check out the new logo at the bottom of the page.

The Scream saga continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. and is due to hit cinemas on March 31st, 2023.
